When to Call a Chaplain


1.      After the diagnosis of a devastating disease.

2.     To provide religious ministry, including prayer, blessings, or religious rituals.

3.     For support and prayer before a surgery or procedure.

4.     For assistance with tough questions or to help in clarifying meaning and life values.

5.     For sacraments of communion, anointing or baptism.

6.     If you or a loved one are lonely, depressed, suicidal, or anxious.

7.     For assistance with end-of-life decision-making or biomedical ethical issues.

8.     To receive assistance with advanced directives.

9.     For support during a life-altering medical event. 

10.    In times of impending death, bereavement, or grief.

11.     If you need a referral to outside clergy of faith groups or other support groups.

12.    To assist with palliative care.
